Certain crystals and gemstones are identified with the different signs of the zodiac, each stone having unique properties that can be used during that particular seasonal cycles, and which bring good fortune and harmony to the wearer.

The idea of wearing a specific stone because you were born under that zodiac sign is erroneous, and, for the most part, circulated by the jewellery industry. Rather, Birthstones are gateways to the vibrational cycles of the earth, moon, sun and stars.

The original idea was to collect and use twelve stones throughout the year, one for each sign of the zodiac, for the purposes of exploring the qualities of each sign. Lists of birthstones vary considerably. The table below places the most commonly accepted next to each of the twelve zodiac signs.

Aries:

Ruby, bloodstone, diamond, sapphire, garnet,red jasper.

Taurus:

emerald, carnelian, agate, golden topaz, lapis lazuli, alexandrite.

Gemini:

Aquamarine, rock quartz, agate, alexandrite, chrysoberyl.

Cancer:

Emerald, moonstone, carnelian,

Leo:

Ruby, cat's eye, carnelian, onyx, Citrine, heliodor.

Virgo:

Zircon, sapphire, Pink jasper, rose quartz, peridot.

Libra:

Opal, diamond, tourmaline, malachite.

Scorpio:

Garnet, rubellitte, agate. Imperial topaz, topaz, obsidian,bloodstone.

Sagittarius:

Amethyst, blue topaz, hematite, turquoise, blue zircon, lapis lazuli.

Capricorn:

Beryl, onyx, garnet.

Aquarius:

Blue sapphire, amethyst, aquamarine.

Pisces:

Bloodstone, jasper, jade, diamond, aquamarine.
